NGT has developed a smart water management device that will retail for less than $1000 that can be used to mange any number of water sources via a smart hub or automation system. It will work with any water source that can be connected to 25mm or 32mm polyethylene pipes. (larger sizes are entirely possible) Monitor, control or automate your water grid without the need to lay power or data cables. The WiFi (802.11) based device has been running in the field in exposed weather conditions for 18 months. It has a range of 4km LoS. A more flexible LoRa based system is being tested currently. This offers the advantage of being powered from small batteries and solar panel. It will have the potential to stretch longer distances in more hilly conditions. Both systems do not require any data subscriptions (satellite services). Your existing local network is all that is required. Apart from the modest hardware investment upfront there are no ongoing expenses.
